Crockpot Butter Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs halal chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup coconut cream
  • 1 cup halal chicken broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients (except coconut cream and lemon juice) into the crockpot.
  • Stir well to coat the chicken in spices.
  • Cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours.
  • Stir in coconut cream and lemon juice in the final 30 minutes.
  • Garnish with cilantro and serve with basmati rice or naan.
