- 1 lb halal ground beef
- 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of choice)
- 1 cup halal tomato sauce or tomato puree
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
- ½ tsp cumin
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley or green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- Brown ground beef in a skillet; add onions, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook until soft.
- In a large bowl, mix rice, beef mixture, tomato sauce, half of the cheese, and all spices.
- Spread the mixture into the baking dish and top with remaining cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, then uncover and bake another 10 minutes.
- Let cool for 5–10 minutes. Garnish and serve warm.
