Ingredients
For the Filling:
3 cups apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and diced
1 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the Pastry:
1 package puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
1 egg (for egg wash)
For the Glaze (Optional):
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Prepare the Filling: Cook apples with butter, sugars, cinnamon, and lemon juice until tender. Thicken with cornstarch. Cool completely.
Prep the Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 4×4-inch squares.
Assemble Turnovers: Add apple filling to each square, fold into triangles, and seal edges. Make slits on top for steam to escape.
Bake: Brush with egg wash and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
Glaze (Optional): Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Drizzle over cooled turnovers.
