- 3 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 3 tablespoons sugar (for macerating strawberries)
- 1 cup heavy cream (or coconut cream), chilled
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in butter until crumbly. Add milk gradually to form a dough.
- Drop or shape dough into rounds and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden.
- Toss sliced strawberries with sugar. Let sit for 20–30 minutes to release juices.
- Whip cold cream and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Slice shortcakes horizontally.
- Layer bottom halves with strawberries and cream.
- Top with the remaining shortcake halves, more berries, and a final dollop of cream.
